Welcome to #LSN10

This year we’re giving you something to celebrate – welcome to #LSN10!

2018 marks our tenth annual Lawn Summer Nights season, and we couldn’t be more excited. Over the past 10 years, we have built a community of young professionals that continue to awe and inspire us. Fundraising doesn’t come easy, and it doesn’t always come naturally. When you sign up to bowl at Lawn Summer Nights, you’re joining a family of people who want more than just a good time. And while we’re all about cocktails and costumes, there’s also a very important cause that we’re here to support.

Lawn Summer Nights is more than just something to add to your summer social calendar (although it has definitely improved our summer weekdays!). It’s an opportunity for thousands of young people across the country to do something many haven’t tried before – raising money to help find a cure for a disease that affects young Canadians just like you. We believe in grassroots fundraising – in backyard BBQs and YouTube covers and yoga retreats and food fights, and all those millions of little things that set us apart from other fundraisers. We’re here for the ideas, no matter how big or small. Because after all, LSN began with an idea just like those ones.

“It was late 2008 when I was living in Sydney, Australia. In Australia, barefoot bowls was something that you’d often see people in their 20’s and 30’s doing on a sunny Saturday or Sunday afternoon. One day we gathered our friends who were visiting and those we met in Sydney and headed out to the Manly Bowls Club for the afternoon.

Andrew, Graham and I thought about bringing the idea of casual bowls back to Vancouver, where we knew of a handful of clubs that often sat empty. We knew it would be fun and a great way to gather with old friends and meet new ones, but the idea was still missing something.

Soon after, a friend named Philip Lyall brought out a rough cut of his latest documentary titled 65_Redroses. We all gathered in the living room and watched the inspiring story of our friend Eva Markvoort, as she battled with Cystic Fibrosis and eventually received a double-lung transplant. As soon as the film ended, we all knew the idea was complete: we would hold a lawn bowling event as a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.”

– Duncan Gillespie, co-Founder

And the rest is history – a history we want you to be a part of. So yeah, this year we’re celebrating.
We’re celebrating the fact that since 2009, we’ve gone from one event in Vancouver to 18 events across Canada.
We’ve gone from $11,000 in one year to more than $714,000 in 2017 alone.
We’ve gone from three friends inspired by a remarkable young woman to a community of young professionals raising over $2.7 million raised for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Help us make #LSN10 a year like no other.
